At the direction of the U.S. House of Representatives Appropriations Committee, in support of the Legislative Branch Bulk Data Task Force, the Government Publishing (GPO), the Library of Congress (LOC), the Clerk of the House, and the Secretary of the Senate are planning to make Bill Statuses in XML format available through the GPO’s Federal Digital System (FDsys) Bulk Data repository starting with the 113th Congress. At launch in early 2016, the FDsys Bulk Data repository for Bill Status information will be available at http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/bulkdata/BILLSTATUS.
UPCOMING PUBLIC MEETING: Tuesday, December 15
There will be a technical meeting to review sample Bill Status XML files and the draft XML User Guide on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 from 1:00-2:30 pm in Washington, DC. For more information or to RSVP, please contact the Office of the Clerk at 202-225-7000.
On Monday, December 7th, in preparation for the meeting, eight sample Bill Status XML files and the draft XML User Guide will be made available on GPO's GitHub page at https://github.com/usgpo. The sample XML files cover a broad variety of legislative activities and represent each bill type from the House of Representatives and the Senate (e.g. bill, joint resolution, concurrent resolution, simple resolution).
